Curious if any organizations have developed brand guidelines for D&I related terms. Example – AP Styleguide on capitalizing the “b” in Black.
We are looking to develop brand guidelines for D&I terminology to ensure consistency (do we say LGBTQ, LGBTQIA, LGBTQ+…) and provide a friendly /positive way of highlighting appropriate terms (we say sexual orientation when referring to… rather than we don’t say sexual preference because…).
We have not created any specific brand guidelines but at Bank of America we started a partnership with identiversity to provide consistency around D&I terminology. The organization covers LGBTQ+ terms and topics you’ve heard about but don’t necessarily understand. They have assembled the latest information from leading experts.
