The Pride Business Resource Group is committed to enriching Grainger’s culture by uplifting the voices of LGBTQ+ team members and promoting an inclusive workplace where everyone is valued and encouraged to bring their whole selves to work — regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
We envision an inclusive workplace free of discrimination in all forms where social justice inspires community engagement and equity.
The following tenets guide our work as the Pride BRG:
Accessibility: We strive to be available and accessible to our team members and broader community in as many ways as possible. We focus on listening and responding to team member needs and desires in meaningful ways.
Action: We believe that we must proactively do something to create our vision in partnership with the enterprise and broader community. We value innovation by looking for new ideas and perspectives. Our vision is one of social justice in which we collaboratively fight oppression across multiples issues and inequalities.
Collaboration: We work to create inclusive and collaborative environments through our programming and physical spaces. We value all contributions, and we work as a collective system in which everyone contributes what they can in a feasible and effective manner.
Education: We gain information about LGBTQ+ issues, research and professional development. We believe it is our responsibility to share our knowledge, experiences and expertise in order to engage our workplace and broader community in learning and reflective practice. We know that we, as a BRG, do not have all the answers; we are open to teaching and learning from others.
Transparency: We engage in transparency both internally (amongst one another) and externally (with our customers, suppliers and communities) through communicating context, sharing as much information as possible, acknowledging help and insight from others, and avoiding unilateral decision-making.
